Before
Pitchfork blew their collective wad all over this album, nobody
outside of New York would have cared about a band with a name like
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. But once it happened, this band was everywhere,
selling out their entire stock of discs in a matter of days. Of
course, Clap Your Hands didn’t ask to become Pitchfork’s
next big thing, but they do deserve at least some of the hype. Besides,
the album is a pretty solid debut that, with the catchy synth of
“The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth” and the quivering
vocal melodies of “In This Home on Ice,” you might never
be able to get out of your head.
