The White Stripes - Walking With a Ghost EP (V2)
Rewind a couple of years: I had that queezy-schmizzey feeling in my stomach as my ears got a chance to witness Joss Stone’s scanty cover of The White Stripes’ “Fell in Love with a Girl” and I lost all abdominal control. Fast-forward to the present: Jack White takes his turn at covering a pop rock song way too early—(he takes a spin at Tegan and Sara’s “Walking with a Ghost”) and the result is as expected: I lose my lunch. Overtly weak, White delivers an unconvincing emptiness and the translation of acoustic- Canadian sister-sensation Tegan and Sara does not follow through. Alas, there is light at the end of the tunnel and the remaining B-sides of the EP, tiny live snippets of the duo’s A.D.D. performance style, are down-right delicious in distorted and dirty-gritty-White Stripes-glory.
