Sameer Patil is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Informatics, and a Graduate Student Researcher for the Institute for Software Research (ISR) at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) at University of California, Irvine (UCI)).
He is a member of the PROST research group within the Interactive and
Collaborative Technologies (ICT) research area (formerly
known as CORPS - Computers ORganizations Policy & Society), and his advisor is Dr. Alfred Kobsa. His research interests are in the fields of Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and Ubiquitous Computing (ubicomp). Specifically, he is exploring how to address privacy issues that affect technological systems. His research is funded by National Science Foundation (NSF)'s Information Technology Research for National Priorities (ITR) grant: An Integrated Social and Technical Approach to the Development of Distributed, Inter-organizational Applications. His research has featured in the Spring/Summer 2005 ISR Connector, and in an Informatics Research Highlight. Sameer is an elected council member of UCI's graduate student government - Association of Graduate Students (AGS). He is also a Hiking Leader and the President of the UCI Hiking Club. |
