RESEARCH 

 

                 My research interests include, data management support in heterogeneous dynamic systems where the volume of querying and update is high, techniques for scalability in such systems, managing and representing heterogeneous spatial temporal data and customization of queries for end users and applications.

 

 PROJECTS:

1.     GURU: It is a distance learning environment that provides a customized learning environment for users with disabilities developed as a part of the SUGA Project. GURU is developed using the MPEG-4 framework and it customizes multimedia information for users with visual, auditory and motor impairments.

2.     SAFE: It is a system designed to support evacuation of users with disabilities from a region that has been affected by a disaster or get first responders to the users in need. The system consists of both an instrumented environment to localize users and navigation systems to customize navigation from the evacuation perspective for users who are impaired. The navigational support includes evacuation planning (taking into consideration user needs, environment, etc) and customized dissemination (accessible to users with sensory or cognitive impairments) of navigational information users.

3.     DrillSim: It is one of the test-beds developed as part of Rescue and Responsphere for the purpose of testing IT solutions in the context of a crisis response. It is a multi-agent simulator for simulating campus level crisis response activities. It is a plug and play system where models and IT solutions can be added.
