From its founding in the late 60s on a new campus with a unique vision, to its national ranking today, the Bren School has always been a trailblazer in computer science academics and research.
From its early focus on providing a broad educational experience, to its current offering of four undergraduate computer science degree programs, a Bren School education is grounded in the basics but also explores the newest technologies and advancements.
Our vibrant community, comprised of researchers and educators as well as industry-leading scholars, explores innovative topics ranging from building complete computer systems on chips smaller than your finger nail to developing user interface systems that allow engineers on opposite sides of the world to collaborate effectively.
From improving how first responders communicate during a crisis situation, to applying computer science to analyze biological data and thereby expediting biological research, the Bren School has always focused on how to bring computing and information technology to bear in solving a diverse set of problems from across the campus and throughout the industry.
