ICS brings together under the same roof three synergistic and complementary departments—Computer Science, Informatics, and Statistics – providing a deliberate and relentless focus on the exploding field of computing and creating an unparalleled environment for learning and discovery in the core and numerous applications of computing. Teaching and research activities cover virtually every area of computing, including algorithm design and analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer architecture and embedded computer systems, computer-supported cooperative work, computer games and virtual worlds, computer graphics and visualization, and networked and distributed systems. It also covers novel work in areas such as health informatics, human-computer interaction, bioinformatics, computational biology and genomics, and the organizational and social aspects of information technology, as well as in data science, databases and data mining, digital media and learning, security and privacy, software engineering, software systems, social and mobile computing, and statistical methods.
