Remembering Roberta Lamb »
Message from Dean Debra J. Richardson
Dear Friends,
It is with deep sadness that I share with you news of the passing of our faculty member, Roberta Lamb.
Roberta passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon at Irvine Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Roberta joined the Informatics Department as Associate Professor in April, coming from the University of Hawaii. For such a short time, she had a great impact on our community.
Her affiliation with UC Irvine began in 1987 as she pursued her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the then Department of Information and Computer Science under the supervision of Professor Rob Kling.
In her career, Roberta made great contributions to research in information systems and social and organizational informatics, focusing on information and communication technology use within organizations and in widely dispersed socio-technical networks.Roberta was also widely recognized as an excellent teacher and mentor to students.
She served as deputy editor of The Information Society, associate editor of Information Technology and People, and social aspects theme editor of the Journal of Digital Information.
Roberta is survived by her partner Bryan Egan and her sister Donna.
There will be no public memorial service.
