Job Description:
We are looking for individuals with a strong drive for results, a passion for shipping quality software on time. This role involves designing, implementing and executing white and black box tests for our web services stack, targeted at web portals, cable and satellite operators, mobile devices, and internal development teams. The QA engineer will work closely with the development team by creating and executing exhaustive test plans, measuring and benchmarking services and site performance. Also, the QA Engineer will troubleshoot and pinpoint bugs and performance issues at the application, services and database layers. The QA Engineer will create automated test scripts and tools that increases the efficiency of the CPS QA approach, Execute test plans, and report and track issues through resolution • Develop automated test scripts to maximize efficiency • Develop full functional and regression test suites to ensure complete code coverage during the test phase • Perform load testing, locate performance bottlenecks • Troubleshoot complex technical issues until resolution or hand-off to the development team • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on features and usability • Create and analyze reports relating to performance benchmarking, test plan status, and site usage statistics Characteristics: • Outstanding team player and positive attitude • Tenacious and driven when tackling tough technical issues • Strong customer service attitude and eagerness to solve problems • Test-to-break mentality and tireless pursuit of quality • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively when discussing issues with team members and customers Software tools and technology used at Rovi. * Passionate about Quality Assurance. This is a long term QA position only. * BS Computer Science * 3.0+ GPA. Internships or freelance projects can be considered in lieu GPA below 3.0 * Decent JAVA/C# background. Must know what is a class,constructor,method, variables, static, etc. * prior experience with web services (such as paypal api, amazon api, google api) highly desireable but not required. * Must want to do and excel in the QA field.
