Adball is an Irvine based startup seeking a motivated web developer to join its team. Adball placed 1st at the 2008 hITEC Entrepreneurship Competition organized by the UC Irvine Donald Bren School of Computer Science and 3rd at the 2008 Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth Business Plan Competition organized by the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business. Adball also won the People's Choice Award of the Orange County Register newspaper. Adball’s team has since developed the concept into a working platform and is expected to launch later in the summer of 2009. The web developer will perform the following functions: 1. Work on a project building a database-backed websites for crowd-sourcing advertisement campaigns. 2. Participate in the processes of extending and enhancing the architecture of the adball platform. 3. Code web pages utilizing XHTML and CSS. 4. Work in several programming languages including PHP, SQL and JavaScript as well as Web 2.0 technologies such as AJAX. 5. Review, analyze and modify the adball platform including documenting, designing, developing, testing, monitoring, and maintaining as necessary. 6. Install or customize modules and features for Open Source software packages such as MYSQL, Apache. 7. Work with Apache web servers. Interact with servers using FTP, Telnet, and SSH protocols. 8. Responsible for meeting set goals and deadlines as determined by the adball team. Hours: Flexible working hours, the development is mainly task driven. Developer can work remotely and most of the communication will be performed online using online project management tools (e.g., basecamp), Skype and IM for chats and conference calls. Pay: Adball is an Irvine based startup currently negotiating the first round of funding from Angels and VCs. The team is initially offering equity until this round of funding is closed. After that a salary could be negotiated. Equity offer will vary based on amount of experience, school completion level, and certifications received. Requirements: 1. At least a 2 year degree (Bachelor degree preferred) in a computer-related field (computer science/programming). 2. Advanced knowledge of standards-based XHTML and CSS. 3. Knowledge of programming languages including PHP, Javascript, MYSQL and XML. 4. Extensive experience in designing and developing web sites. 5. Experience with the Linux operating systems. 6. Experience with web-based software applications. 7. Above average written and verbal communication skills. 8. Web development related certifications highly desirable.
