Job Description:
Adball is an Irvine based startup seeking a motivated web designer to join its team. Adball placed 1st at the 2008 hITEC Entrepreneurship Competition organized by the UC Irvine Donald Bren School of Computer Science and 3rd at the 2008 Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth Business Plan Competition organized by the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business. Adball also won the People's Choice Award of the Orange County Register newspaper. Adball’s team has since developed the concept into a working platform and is expected to launch later in the summer of 2009. Job Summary: The web designer will be responsible to plan, design, develop, coordinate and produce graphics and video for the adball platform including logos, icons, and tutorials. Assist in establishing and maintaining professional graphics and identity standards for the company and its platform, design web sites and ensure that they are visually effective and easy to access. The web designer will advise the adball team on the categories and information needed to construct the site and test the web sites for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions. The web designer will be fully responsible for the layout, visual appearance and usability of the website. The web designer may take part in the initial planning of a web site, meeting and discussing ideas for the layout and organization of the site, the types of colors or images to use (photos, illustrations, videos, etc.) The web designer will perform the following functions: 1. Mapping and outlining a website's structural content. Developing and designing concepts for all company materials, including logos, webpage layout, tutorials, videos for the website. 2. Creating and editing images and graphics for website use. 3. Creating templates of approved website layout. 4. Creating verbal content for the website or using approved content from the adball team. 5. Meet all deadlines set by department supervisor and other company management. Manage website updates while maintaining look and feel. Manage and maintain graphic files, including company logos, photos and art. 6. Other duties as assigned. Hours: Flexible working hours, the development and design will be mainly task driven. The designer can work remotely and most of the communication will be performed online using online project management tools (e.g., basecamp), Skype and IM for chats and conference calls. Pay: Adball is an Irvine based startup currently negotiating the first round of funding from Angels and VCs. The team is initially offering equity until this round of funding is closed. After that a salary could be negotiated. Equity offer will vary based on amount of experience, school completion level, and certifications received. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Experience: 2-3 years on-the-job experience preferred. 2. Education: College degree or equivalent experience in graphic/web design preferred. 3. Strong graphic design skills. 4. Comprehensive knowledge of PC-based graphics software including: PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, Acrobat, and MS Office programs (Gimp and Inkspace are a plus). 5. Complete understanding of web design including skills for creating standard HTML files, templates and web pages. 6. Flexibility to juggle multiple tasks, produce quality work and meet deadlines. 7. Good organizational and file maintenance skills. 8. Strong written and verbal skills. 9. Marketing and video background helpful, but not necessary.How to apply:
