ICS Alumni Chapter kicks off with Happy Hour on March 9

Kitty Ho '11 is kicking off a new ICS Alumni Chapter with a special Happy Hour this Thursday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at the Dave & Buster’s in Irvine.

Kitty Ho '11 is hosting an ICS Alumni Chapter event to start off the new year at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at the Dave & Buster’s in Irvine. This is a great opportunity for OC Anteaters to kick back and network at the Irvine Spectrum. All ICS alumni are welcome to come for an informal evening of networking and to learn more about getting involved with the ICS Alumni Chapter.

Ho, who earned her B.S. in information and computer science in 2011, was deeply involved with various student organizations, especially UCI IEEE and the ICS Student Council, as an undergraduate. Then, for reasons she can’t explain, Ho moved across the country to Cedar Rapids for two years. As an alumna living in Iowa, she had the good fortune to discover nearly a dozen other UCI alumni. Having shared a formative chapter in their lives, the group would meet up every Monday for drinks and to complain about how much they missed California.

These "meetups" ignited a renewed love for her alma mater. Upon her return to the golden state, Ho made it her mission to give back to the ICS community and the university. She believes that forming the ICS Alumni Chapter is a great first step in bringing alumni together to be more involved with current students, not to mention an excellent way to see old faces.

“I hope that an ICS Alumni Chapter can foster, maintain and support a mutually beneficial relationship between alumni and the Donald Bren School of ICS," says Ho. "The chapter can also be used as a medium to connect the university locally, nationally and around the globe."
