Equipment move request »
Purpose:
It is important to notify support of any equipment moves. Equipment moves may have implications regarding IP address, subnet, DNS, and backups. In order to ensure a smooth transition through any equipment move please be sure to contact support.Before the move, go to https://netreg.ics.uci.edu and fill out the required information. For help with determining the MAC address, please visit NACS's webpage. If there is a large amount of computers to move, please send a list with information on each computer to helpdesk@ics.uci.edu.
Allow two business day after you have submitted the form for the setup to be completed.
Procedure:
When filling out the NetReg request please make sure the notes section contains the following information:
- Name and e-mail address of the contact person (person moving systems) if he/she is not the person sending in the request.
- Hostname and type of equipment you are moving
- Building and room number where equipment is currently located
- Current IP address of equipment being moved
- Building and room to which equipment will be moved
- Operating system name and version used on equipment being moved
- Primary user of the equipment being moved
- The date you would like the IP change completed by
Lead time:
Typically 2 working days if the request contains all needed information; should not normally exceed 1 week maximum.
