Retrieving Snapshot from Windows »
Note: Your mounted Unix directory will be referred to in these instructions as the H: drive. If your Unix account is not mapped, please click here for instructions on Windows XP.
You have now restored your deleted/corrupted file.
- Find where your deleted file was or corrupted file is on your H: drive.
- Double-click on My Computer.
- Double-click on the H: drive.
- Navigate to the folder/directory where the corrupted or deleted file was originally saved.
* Note: Perform these additional steps before continuing to Step 2 if your file was corrupted.
- In order to copy the file from backup, you need to rename your corrupted file. Single-click your file to select it.
- Right-click and select the Rename option. Rename your file with a .old extension (i.e. it should be
filename.old).
- Find the backup file in your .snapshot directory.
- Under the Start Menu go to Run..., and type:
Press Enter. Please note the period before the word snapshot.
h:\.snapshot- You should see folders nightly.0 up to nightly.29.The folder nightly.0 is the state of your files the previous night, nightly.1 two nights ago, and so on. Double-click on the most recent folder that has your file intact.
- You will see folders and files similar to that seen in your H: drive. Locate the file you want to restore.
- Copy and paste the file that you found in Step 2 into the window you opened from Step 1.
