Retrieving Snapshot from UNIX »

  1. Note down where the lost file was located.
  2. From the root of your home directory, change to .snapshot directory (make sure that the dot in front of snapshot is included)
  3. Next, type ls -lu to list files by date. There will be up to 20 files, named nightly.0 through nightly.29. nightly.0 is the most recent, and nightly.29 is the oldest.
  4. Change the directory to the folder you think the file is most likely in.
  5. Find the file you want to recover and copy it to your home directory.
Note: If the file already exists there, you must rename it.
