Opening XWin32 on Windows »
How to open up an XWin32 window in the ICSLab:
- Left click on the start button
- Left click on the Xwin32 icon
- If its not there, go to All Programs and look for XWin32.
- After finding the XWin32 icon left-click on it.
- You will see the XWin32 splash screen come up as the program initializes and then it will disappear.
- If you look in the icon tray in the lower right-hand corner you will see the XWin32 icon.
- Left-click ONCE on the icon.
- You will see a small window above the icon that says open.lab.ics.uci.edu.
- Left-click ONCE on that window.
- Another window will open up in the middle of the screen. It will ask for your password.
- Enter your password.
- Left-click on the okay button.
- If you entered the correct password, an xterm window should open up.
- If the password was incorrectly entered you will see a different window asking you to re-enter your password.
- Give it a few seconds, sometimes it takes a while, depending on how much traffic there is.
