The Informatics faculty consists of a unique blend of distinguished scholars and talented young researchers. It includes the "mother of Aspect-Oriented Programming", Cristina Lopes; current Bren School Dean, Debra Richardson, and other faculty who each are considered among the top experts in their areas of research.
Informatics faculty have received a plethora of national and campus awards and have been the recipients of millions of dollars in research grants.
What truly distinguishes Informatics faculty is their commitment to sharing knowledge with their students. The great majority of professors teach undergraduates both in introductory lecture classes and in small freshman, sophomore and advanced seminars.
In addition to the fifteen full-time Informatics faculty the department also includes ten joint appointment faculty.
