If you want:» an up-to-date education in software and information design;
» preparation for a broad range of job opportunities that go beyond just programming;
» a world-class education by a small, focused, friendly group of faculty;
» an educational experience that is unique in terms of how the courses are taught, how teamwork is integrated throughout the curriculum, and how real-life projects form the inspiration for the materials covered ...... then the Informatics major may be the choice for you!
The Informatics major is interdisciplinary in nature and we expect students with diverse backgrounds. Informatics graduates will be well prepared to design and implement computer software, but most will not be working eight hours a day in front of a computer.
They will work with colleagues and clients to design not just programs, but complete, creative solutions that work effectively in the real world.
The program welcomes students who have an interest in systematic, creative design and who are careful listeners, avid readers, effective oral and written communicators and creative, critical thinkers.
Students who do not already have a background in computer programming and those who have worked with computers for years are welcomed too.
If you would like to talk with someone about the Informatics major, please contact the Bren School Student Affairs Office.
