Speaker Information/Recommendations:

  • Allotted speaking times are determined by the number of speakers in each session. For example, each session lasts 1hr and 45min. If 4 presenters are scheduled for a session, each speaker will be allotted 26min. Please also allow 3-4 minutes for questions. Thus a speaker in a session with 4 presenters should time their talk to last 22-23 minutes.
  • Standard equipment will be placed in each room (one overhead projector, one screen and one LCD/data projector with cables). An LCD/data projector is the machine that projects PowerPoint or other computer generated programs from a laptop to the screen. The presenter is responsible for providing their own laptop for their presentation.
  • Presenters using PowerPoint or other computer-generated presentations should bring a copy of the presentation on overhead transparencies in case there are technical difficulties with laptop connections.
  • It is recommended that multiple speakers in a session using PowerPoint or computer-generated presentations designate one speaker to provide one laptop for the session and load all of the presentations onto one machine to avoid lost time or faulty connections. Please facilitate this process with your speakers and session chair.
