FRESHMEN
All new freshmen are required* to attend a Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP).

Orientation for freshmen includes academic advising, class registration, information on campus resources, opportunities to make friends, a lot of fun and much more! (*note: those who attend Summer Bridge or CAMP are not required to attend SPOP)

TRANSFER STUDENTS
Transfer Students will receive academic advising for course enrollment throughout the summer through their academic counseling office, not through SPOP.

Transfers seeking an orientation experience beyond academic advising can choose to attend either of the two optional Transfer Success Programs which will take place in September, 2008.

UCI FINANCIAL AID & ADMISSIONS UPDATE

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and the Undergraduate Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools are excited you will attend the Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP).

We encourage you to contact our offices BEFORE your SPOP program, as many of your financial aid and admission-related matters can be completed before coming to campus.

You may check your aid status and award information online at www.ofas.uci.edu and call our office should you have specific questions. Additionally, your admission status can be accessed at www.admissions.uci.edu by clicking on MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI.

While the SPOP schedule is packed with activities, should you wish to see us during your time on campus our staff is available to assist.

  • Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of Wednesday when the Financial Aid Office opens at 9 a.m.

  • Additionally, if SPOP Day 2 falls on a weekend, we're open from noon to 4 p.m.

For financial aid purposes, should your parent decide to visit our office while you are attending a SPOP event, please make sure you complete a "Consent for Release of Information" form so that we may share your information with them.

TRANSFER SUCCESS PROGRAM

We are very happy you have decided to continue your education at UCI!

Transfer students are a vital part of the undergraduate population.

In an effort to ease your transition into UCI we are offering the
"Transfer Success" program.

Designed specifically for transfers, this program will include:

  • Student Resource Panel
  • Workshop on Research Opportunities
  • Workshop on the Career Center & how it supports transfers
  • Wells Fargo workshop on debt and financial planning
  • Housing Tours
  • Campus Tour

In addition, you will have a chance to meet other new transfer
students and current UCI students. Lunch is included. Price is $65
per person. If you qualify for a scholarship your price will be
automatically reduced.

Transfer Success is offered twice (you need only attend one): Sept.
5 OR Sept. 19. Go to www.students.uci.edu/welcome to register for
