New CSE Transfer and 2nd Baccalaureate Students

UNIVERSITY RELATED INFORMATION

1. Activate your UCI NET ID.

2. Contact the STUDENT HOUSING office if you are interested in living on campus.

3. Register finaidmail@uci.edu with your spam checker / safe list so you successfully receive emails from the FINANCIAL AID office regarding your financial aid, deadlines, and file status.

4. Visit the MESSAGE CENTER at your MyAdmission homepage. The Admissions Office will send you a message about any missing documents/transcripts, or if a hold has been placed on your record.

Detailed information regarding the items above were sent to you in separate emails from each of the respective departments.  Please be sure to read each email and follow their instructions carefully.


 SCHOOL RELATED INFORMATION

1. Familiarize yourself with your SCHOOL WEBSITE.

  • If you were assigned to the School of ICS, this is your website.
  • If you were assigned to the School of Engineering, this is your website.

*PLEASE NOTE: CSE STUDENTS SHOULD REFER TO THEIR SPECIFIC SCHOOL WEBSITE FOR ALL INFORMATION.  CSE STUDENTS SHOULD NOT MIX AND MATCH INFORMATION BETWEEN THE TWO SCHOOLS. 

THE ONLY SHARED INFORMATION WILL BE PERTAINING TO ITEMS ON THIS WEBPAGE--ORIENTATION, CREDIT BY EXAMS, AND SYLLABI REVIEW PROCESS.  FOR ALL OTHER INFORMATION, REFER TO YOUR SCHOOL WEBSITE.

2. Sign up for your mandatory on-campus CSE NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION. Orientation is on Monday, June 26th from 1:00-3:00. Deadline to sign up is Monday, June 19th.  A confirmation email with additional info will be sent to you later.

3. Register to take the ICS 31/CSE 41 CREDIT BY EXAM (Intro to Programming) IF YOU NEED TO.  Go here to sign up and learn more. Note: If you intend to take the other ICS credit by exams, you must schedule these on different dates as each exam usually takes the full two hour slot.

4. Register to take the ICS 45J CREDIT BY EXAM (Programming in Java as a Second Language) IF YOU NEED TOGo here to sign up and learn more.  Note: If you intend to take the other ICS credit by exams, you must schedule these on different dates as each exam usually takes the full two hour slot.

5. Register to take the ICS 45C / CSE 45C CREDIT BY EXAM (Programming in C/C++ as a Second Language) IF YOU NEED TO.  Go here to sign up and learn more.  Note: If you intend to take the other ICS credit by exams, you must schedule these on different dates as each exam usually takes the full two hour slot.

6. Submit syllabi for review IF YOU NEED TO. Go here to learn more.

7. Learn about YOUR MAJOR and course requirements by using the UCI General Catalogue.

8. Purchase a LAPTOP if you do not already own one.
