Siegfried Fischbacher is a magician by trade. He's not the greatest magician, but from the Bejesus Collection standpoint, he and his sidekick Roy are legends. Magic was created to collect bejesus, but magicians became dissenchanted as the bejesus didn't come in the way they had hoped. Soon the whole industry became overly commercialized. Still, this pair found a way to make it work. We'll let them tell the story themselves in this excerpt from our exclusive Summer 1998 interview, featuring who else on the cover but the enchanting duo themselves.

BQ: So how did you two get started on Magic?

R: Well, we've always been big believers in the power of magic, and we know that, for some people it hadn't worked out so well, but we thought there was still hope if we could do things a little differently than most people.

BQ: But after all of the failures we've seen, what made you think you could be Jesus?

R: We just had some ideas about how to make things better. We started out with some of the usual tricks and things to get the amazement spray, and the standard confusion...but the real stroke of genius was Siegie's.

S: (Subdued laughter) We thought we needed some more scary in there, and so we figured, why not bring in some huge beasts..other than Roy of course.

R: (Laughing) No, the tigers were what really did it for us. And that was Sigfried's idea.

BQ: I know this isn't often talked about, but I have to ask. Why Siegfried and not you, Roy?

R: Well, as you know, Hallmark has recently gone public with its sponsorship of our, act. They insist that Siegfried be the candidate because of his June birthday. Silly, I know.

S: They have a lot riding on selling some unbelievable number of summer-themed Christmas things, its mad.

BQ: Some say that you would never have come this far if it hadn't been for Hallmark's support. What do you have to say that?

S: The Hallmark people have been very gracious, but we are strong, we could have done this with or without them.

BQ: One last question. Do I dare ask how you go about transfering the bejesus from yourself to Siegfried?

R: (Laughing) No. Probably not.
