Courses vs Non-Courses

The question of whether the material to be learned needs to be considered a course or not is an important issue here. A good bit of learning does not particularly need this designation. For example, in learning how to cook Chinese food, whether one thinks of this as a course, or as a continuing activity, is not a terribly important issue. Furthermore, the word ''course'' will need certainly to change in all the kinds of situations in which it is used. For example, a given chunk of learning material can be varying length and still be referred to as a course.
