Video Learning

Most formal distance learning institutions developed today depend more heavily on video than on any other learning mode, although the Open University did not find video, in the form of broadcast video, to be as valuable as it had contemplated. The Open University standards for video were very high, because much of the earlier video was done directly by the BBC for the Open University, as mentioned. Later the University established studios, but these now have been closed.

Nevertheless, video has become in recent years more and more commonly used in distance learning. Video can be delivered in a variety of ways.

The most important possibilities for video material for distance learning are discussed in the following sections.
