After design is complete, the material is implemented on one or more target machines. Media such as sound and video must also be implemented. The design of the screen must also be considered at this time. Beta testing follows, to find and remove errors from the code.
Screen design is done by excellent graphic artists, with some experience with learning material. Special interactive programs are needed for the screen designers.
Here too specialists are employed, often with a subcontract to groups specializing in the media needed.
In the Irvine-Geneva system much of the program is automatically done directly from the computer-stored script. Some hand coding is also needed. The code, automatic and hand, can be written in any language desired. We typically use Pascal, because it is relatively easy to change when difficulties are found.
Before material can be tested pedagogically, we need to eliminate any programming problems, as far as is possible. Typical users should be involved at this stage. Editors may also assist.
