Satellite transmission

The Star Schools projects in the United States mostly distributed video through satellite transmission on channels for educational use. The notion was to cover a sizable part of the country. But students had to learn in lock-step fashion when this was done, as they all received the same video at the same time. Interaction, although attempted, was weak.

We are not mentioning interactive video, because that is fundamentally computer based learning, to be reviewed later.

The production of full scale video courses is a major industry in the United States. Many of these courses are used in distance learning environments. The major problem with almost all of these courses is low quality interaction. Interaction will be discussed later.
