Graphs

The remaining computer dialog in the Scientific Reasoning Series concerns the concept of graphs, an important mathematical tool for science.

This program builds the necessary concepts for students to use graphs. In the first section histograms are considered. The tactic used to introduce graphs is to start not with numerical ideas, but with several properties that objects might have, such as different colors and different shapes. Like all programs in the Scientific Reasoning Series the student is an active learner in carrying out the activities that lead to histograms, and, in later sections, to the graphs.
