Both demonstration machines at the time of this writing are IBM PS/2
model 55's. They have:
- standard VGA graphics adapters; the programs run in
``high-resolution'' video mode, at 640 across x 350 down x 16 colours.
- IBM's M-Motion Video Adapter/A, for merging live video input and
the system's VGA display.
- the IBM M-Control program for controlling the M-Motion adapter
and the videodisc player. It consists of 3 or 4 resident programs, run
from AUTOEXEC.BAT. Even if no multimedia will be used, the
initial program C:
MMEDIA
MMEDINIT must be run if
M-Motion is to control ordinary graphics display correctly.
- 2 serial ports each. The videodisc player, whether Pioneer or
Sony, is controlled by the serial port.
- no network adapters. As of this writing, USJ-II needs more
memory than is permitted by the software required by the Center's
Western Digital network adapters.
