• (5/28/2008) Our next lecture will be on Wednesday, June 4, in which we will have our third quiz. It will be closed-books and closed-notes, using multiple-choice questions. I will also bring a sign-up sheet for project 5.
• (5/19/2008) See this page for an explanation about XML mixed-content model. See this page for an explanation about the difference between PCDATA and CDATA.
• (5/12/2008) There will be NO lecture on this Wednesday (May 14). On this Friday (May 16) we will have our second in-class quiz. It will be closed-books, closed-notes, covering all the contents in the lectures and notes up to (including) today (May 12, Monday), with more emphasis on those after quiz 1.
• (5/2/2008) If you want to send an email to the cs122b-help AT ics.uci.edu address, please make sure to send it from a uci.edu or an ics.uci.edu address. Otherwise, your email will be discarded.
• (4/30/2008) There will be NO lecture on this Friday (May 2nd). We will meet on the coming Monday, May 5.
• (4/30/2008) I slightly modified the lecture notes notes06-jdbc-tuning.ppt. In addition, all the commands I ran in class are at the following page.
• (4/28/2008) We released Project 3. We made a minor change. For requirement 1, your stored procedure takes a movie name, a SINGLE star and a SINGLE genre. The reason we don't want to pass multiple stars and genres is that the current MySQL implementation doesn't allow stored procedures to take an array argument.
• (4/25/2008) We will give out the sign-up sheet for project 2 demos in the lecture of Monday, April 28.
• (4/24/2008) For project 2, you are required to do the following: (1) Caching query results in the web server. You shouldn't talk to the backend DB for each request from the client browser; (2) Connection pooling.
• (4/18/2008) There will be no lecture on Monday, April 21. We will have an in-class quiz on Wednesday, April 23. It will include short questions for short answers. It will be closed books, closed notes, covering all the lecture materials (including those in the notes) taught so far.
