The Naftali Langsam Family

Naftali Langsam (18? - before 1907) was married to Pesel Blan, daughter of Shlamy and Freida, of Jawornik, Poland. They are not known to have come to the USA. They had five known children.

• Rachela (18? - ?) was married to married Jacob Zucker. They had 5 children. Rachela's children retained her maiden name of Langsam.

  • Markus (1899 - 19?) was married to Golda Ames in 1936.
  • Nathan (born 1908) was married to Esther Teitelbaum (daughter of Morris) of Sieniawa, Poland and had one known daughter. He came to the USA in June 1935 and later naturalized.

  • Sheindel (born 1909) was married to Isak Chartner in 1939.
• Leya (1882 - before 1923) married Kalman Schmaltz and had 6 known children.

  • Florence married Hyman Bluestein and had children. She came to the USA on Sept 5, 1923 aboard the Canopic sailing out of Danzig. She was travelling with two sisters, listed as Chaja and Sara. They came from an orphange in Hucisko (near Jawornik). Their last residence before leaving was an uncle, Leib Schmalz. Upon arrival they went to their maternal uncle, Harry Bessen (42 Webster Ridge, New Rochelle, NY). Florence related that their great-aunt, Feiga Feit (see H8 section) of St. Louis, travelled to Warsaw to arange for their papers.

• Szyja (1885 - 1885) died in Dubiecko, Poland.
• Moshe (1888/90 - 1957) was born in Hucisko, Poland. He married Perel Kutcher and had four children. He moved to Israel.

  • Bronya married a Rottenstreich and lives in Israel.
  • Pesel married a Damchenko.
  • Chaim of Brooklyn, NY.
• Harry (May 15, 1896 - ?) was married to Sarah and they had two children. Listed as Hersch Meilech, he came to the USA on Sept 26, 1913 aboard the Pretoria out of Hamburg, Germany. His brother Moshe was still in Hucisko when Harry left.His Brooklyn naturalization papers list his occupation as furrier. In 1923 he was married with one child and living at 339 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn NY.
  • Norman married and now lives in Florida. He has two known daughters.
