What's New

12 June 2000

i'm back in the country (although not yet in Irvine). i will try to get to your email questions, etc. once the ICS mail server becomes stable.  as of now, i can't send any email (or receive any new email). so i am posting information here, which you should be checking anyway.

don't forget the final exam is tomorrow at 10:30.  i have posted another sample final for your practice pleasure (sorry i do not have a key, but it will give you a VERY GOOD idea of the kind of questions on the final exam) and you should be able to figure out what the answers are from the lecture notes and various texts, if not from your own knowledge.

Topic 14 is also on line now.  sorry about that.  someone should have told me sooner.

see you tomorrow.

8 June 2000

Hello from the International Conference on Software Engineering.

everything must be going just grand there, since i haven't heard from anyone (except Michele and Jie) ... that's not an invitation to bombard me with email (in fact i won't be able to log on after tomorrow until i return on monday evening).

as you should all know, the final exam is next tuesday at 10:30.  i have posted a sample final (sorry it's a bit old, but it should still give you an idea ... we may post another one later) and a study guide.

see you all on tuesday.

12 May 2000

By the way, as I announced in class:  if you have a problem with your midterm, you should send me an email describing the problem, identify the question(s) and why you think your answer(s) is(are) correct.  I will get your exam from the distribution center and make a decision, letting you know my decision and meeting with you if we deem it necessary.

11 May 2000

Midterm key is available on line.

Midterms are available in the Distribution Center, whose current hours are as follows:

M 10-10:50
T 11-3
W 12:30-5
Th 11-3; 3:30-5
F 10-2
Please note that
  • Students may look at their exam in the presence of the distribution center staff (there should be answer keys there, but you might get your own first), but may not modify the exam in any way.
  • Students can take their exam, but once taken from the distribution center, no regrading of answers will occur (only recounting, if the grade was added incorrectly).
  • Students should be aware that if they want a regrade, I reserve the right to regrade the entire exam.
The average score was 81% (not bad).  The high score was 100% ... a first!
