"I feel like I'm on my back, and there's the Sistine Chapel, and I'm painting away. I like it when people say, 'Gee, that's a pretty good-looking painting.' But it's my painting, and when somebody says, 'Why don't you use more red instead of blue?' Good-bye. It's my painting...The big question about how people behave is whether they've got an Inner Scorecard or an Outer Scorecard. It helps if you can be satisfied with an Inner Scorecard." - Warren Buffet

My name is Derek Pfister and I am currently a Phd Student under the direction of Professor Richard N. Taylor. My interests lie in software architecture and software engineering.
Prior to coming to UCI, I worked in industry at Xerox Corporation and more recently at Emtex Corporation, now a part of Pitney Bowes. My experiences there and elsewhere have lead to my interests in software architecture and software engineering. Software architecture is the key to many systems' success, especially over the long term, and although it starts with excellent designers, it doesn't stop there.
