Catalog Description:
291s Literature Survey in Software Engineering (2). Reading and analysis of relevant literature in Software Engineering under the direction of a faculty member.
Grades
All students enrolled in the course will earn a letter grade based upon: (a) class participation, (b) weekly summaries, (c) practice questions.
•Class participation: 50%
•Weekly summaries: 40%
•Practice questions: 10%

Week 1 (Apr 3): Introduction
Week 2 (Apr 10): Testing part 1 (first 3 papers)
Week 3 (Apr 17): Testing part 2 (last 2 papers) and Usability
Week 4 (Apr 24): Hypertext and the Web
Week 5 (May 1): Coordination
Week 6 (May 8): Open Source and Formal Methods
Week 7 (May 15): Mining and Software Engineering Research Evaluation
Week 8 (May 22): Student Panel
Week 9 (May 29): No class. University holiday: Memorial Day
Week 10 (June 5): Date of the Phase II Exam. For those taking the exam, they will be in the examination room during class time. For those who are not taking the exam this quarter, we will meet and review the exam questions for this year.
Finalized date for the Phase II Exam: Monday, June 5, 9am to 4:30pm. Please contact Professor Jones and Marty Beach if you plan to take the exam this quarter.
