These are links to some of the many pictures that were taken at the wedding rehearsal and the wedding itself. I have not yet taken the trouble of creating thumbnails; I may do so later. If you are willing to contribute pictures from a standard camera, please mail them to us at our current address. If you have digital pictures that you're willing to give us, please either post them on the web and email the URL to me, or mail us a CD-ROM. All pictures posted on this site will be credited to the photographer.
I have tried to arrange the pictures chronologically within each
section, but I do not guarantee that I succeeded. :)
Warning for those with slow connections or monitors set to low resolution: some of the pictures here are about half a megabyte in size, and many of them are at 1280x960 resolution.
If you don't know who someone is, check out the page of people involved in the wedding.

I formally proposed to Megan on July 1, 2000, at Cape Perpetua on the coast of Oregon. I orchestrated it to follow the form of wedding proposals as found in the Fionavar Tapestry, a trilogy of books written by Guy Gavriel Kay (which I highly recommend to aficionados of high fantasy; for more information, check out Bright Weavings (an official fan site), or just go read the books). To this end, Alex West was there as my Intercedent, and Derek Foster was there as a representative of Megan's family. Derek (and Trina Siebert) took pictures of the whole thing with Derek's camera. Megan was, of course, not told what was happening ahead of time, although I'm sure she guessed what was up.
Larger versions of these pictures--the originals--are available (so are thumbnails, I'm just not bothering to use them at the moment) thanks to Derek, on request.
(The first couple of pictures were taken while Alex and I set the stage, and while I was jittering over exactly what words I wanted to use.)
- Megan posing. Hairstyle courtesy of Oregon coastal winds.
- Megan posing again, showing more natural grace than I'll probably ever have.
- Alex declaiming my virtues as a suitor to Derek, while Megan blushes and I stand there looking like I'm waiting to get executed. (Personally, I think that this was one of my best ideas: let Alex do most of the talking. [grin] I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who's better at talking on his feet.)
- Me giving Megan flowers to soften her up for the real thing, while I tell her that 'the sun rises in your eyes' (often several times a day, in fact).
- The ring...
- I'll take that as a 'yes'.
- This is one way to cope with that pesky foot worth of height difference...
- ...and here's another.
- Joshua and Megan exiting the Portland Art Museum after the ceremony. Dave Foster is playing the part of the videographer on the left, and Jeff and Cori Gauvin are on the right. Interesting exposure-time effect with the bubbles. (Judson Holt)
- Judson and Sarah, garbed to the nines. (Yes, Judson really does have a facial expression like that a lot of the time.
;>) (someone using Judson Holt's camera)- Martin lounging, probably while waiting for Joshua and Megan to get back from their carriage ride. This is also a typical Martin facial expression. Can you tell he's related to Judson?
:)(Judson Holt)- Joshua dancing with Beth. To the left, Megan is dancing with Guy, Dick is manning the video camera in the background, and Bill's shoulder is to the right. (Judson Holt)
- Megan dancing with Guy, proving that Dad Can Dance. That's Beth's back to the left, and probably Joshua's hand. (Judson Holt)
- Joshua dancing with Gail, his brand-new mother-in-law. To the left, you can see Beth dancing with Guy, and behind Joshua and Gail you can see Bill's head. (Judson Holt)
- Joshua dancing with Megan. This is later on, after Joshua has discarded the doublet, and Megan has changed into the Emergency Backup Pants. (Judson Holt)
- Leela, Martin, Richard, and Mara plotting world domination. (Judson Holt)
- Richard demonstrating that economy of nonverbal expression for which he is justly famed. (Judson Holt)
- Sarah and Richard posing. From the expression on Richard's face, I'm guessing he's not expecting the events of the next picture. (Judson Holt)
- Sarah demonstrating her ability to pick up a rigid Richard, while the DJ (Steve) looks on from the background. (Judson Holt)
