I completed my Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics at the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). During my doctoral education, I was a researcher at the Institute for Software Research (ISR).

My specialization is in the research area of Interactive and Collaborative Technologies (ICT) and my advisor is Dr. Alfred Kobsa.

My doctoral research explored how to tackle privacy issues in systems designed for fostering greater awareness among collaborators. The research was funded by National Science Foundation (NSF)'s Information Technology Research for National Priorities (ITR) grant: An Integrated Social and Technical Approach to the Development of Distributed, Inter-organizational Applications, and Human-Centered Computing (HCC) grant: Decentralized Virtual Activities and Technologies: A Socio-Technical Approach. Part of this research was featured in the Spring/Summer 2005 ISR Connector, and in an Informatics Research Highlight.

I was a summer intern at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY, during the summers of 2003, 2004, 2009, and Avaya Labs Research in Lincroft, NJ, during the summer of 2006.

From January 2005 through June 2007, I served as an elected council member of UCI's graduate student government - Association of Graduate Students (AGS). From January - June 2008, I was elected to the Verano Residents Council (VRC) to represent the residents of the Verano Place graduate housing community at UCI. I am also a hiking leader and have served as the Treasurer and the President of the UCI Hiking Club.
