Chemoinformatics:

Ramzi works in the field of Chemoinformatics. He uses machine learning techniques and statistical analysis to develop new methods for searching through large databases of molecules. His work includes new search algorithms and similarity metrics to find biologically relevant molecules given a set of query molecules. Also, he works on algorithms that have enabled a significant improvement in search speed. These advances in similarity metrics and search algorithms expand the space of compounds that can be successfully analyzed.

Bioinformatics:

In the field of Bioinformatics, Ramzi's research is pertaining to Alternative Splicing of pre-mRNA and investigating the effects of Nonsense Mediated Decay. This work is in collaboration with the Hertel Group in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.
