President 1986 |
| During my tenure as President, the Board of Trustees of U.K. included sexual orientation as a protected category with regard to student housing (but not admissions). Not bad for central Kentucky in the mid-80s. The protection was later removed. |

President 1986-1987 |
During my tenure as President, we added "and Lesbian" to the name of the organization, funded a successful billboard campaign, inaugurated AIDS care training with Hospice of the Bluegrass, and lobbied the local Dept. of Health to fund a full-time AIDS coordinator even though there were no known cases of AIDS at the time. Resigned because the rest of the Board were wrapped up in their own lives (eg working towards master's degrees, working overtime, not getting over being dumped by me - yeah, I mean you, Barry, etc.) and were concerned about my efforts to increase the visibility of the organization. |
