** NOTE: The "Walrand 1st ed." problems are on the "Non-textbook problems" handout. The "Walrand 2nd ed." problems are in your textbook.

Walrand 1st ed. #1.4: In the first part ("find the value of P"), you should give an expression for the best P in terms of the other variables. (Hint: This involves calculus.) This will require assuming that K/P is an integer, which is probably not true. In the second part ("repeat the same problem"), you should again give another expression for the best P in terms of the other variables, now including N. (You are encouraged to think how much error is introduced in these expressions by the assumption that K/P is an integer, but you are not required to take this into account.)

Walrand 1st ed. #2.2: Justify your answers.

Walrand 1st ed. #2.10: Make sure you understand the difference between packetization delay, transmission delay, and propagation delay.

Walrand 2nd ed. #2.1: Use Walrand's notation when possible.

Walrand 2nd ed. #2.3: Use Walrand's notation when possible. Label the routing table columns.

Walrand 2nd ed. #2.4: "Total transmission rate" means the sum of the throughputs of all users.

Walrand 2nd ed. #2.5: "Total transmission rate" means the sum of the throughputs of all users.
