Check back here every day or so. I will generally post important coursewide announcements here. They will be listed in reverse-chronological order (i.e. newest items first).

Two updates this afternoon:
- The last Schedule update is now available.
- I'll be holding a review session for the final exam on Tuesday, December 11, from 8:15-9:30pm in DBH 1600. There will be no prepared materials presented; instead, I'd like to focus on what you're having trouble with, so come armed with questions. I'll happily answer questions either for the allocated 75 minutes or until we run out of questions. (We rarely run out of questions before we run out of time, but this depends on all of you bringing good questions to ask!)

Two updates today:
- Confirming what we voted on in lecture yesterday, there are now going to be six assignments rather than seven, which will affect the overall grading scale for the course. The total relative values of the midterm, the assignments, and the final have not changed — it's still 30% midterm, 30% assignments, 40% final. The values of the assignments have changed in the following way: The first three assignments are worth the same that they were previously (~4.3% each) and the remaining three assignments are worth ~5.7% each, adding up to a total of 30%.
- Speaking of assignments, Assignment #4 is now available.

The latest Schedule updates are available. Pay attention, in particular, to the appearance of two chapters of Non-lecture reading, which you'll be required to do and will be tested on the exam, but will not be covered (in detail) during lecture. |

Three updates this morning:
- The due date for Assignment #3 has been postponed until Tuesday, since the last two parts rely on ideas we won't be able to cover in lecture until tomorrow.
- Consequently, the Midterm has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 8.
- The assigned reading for the functional programming lectures mysteriously disappeared from the Schedule page at some point, so I've put it back.

Welcome! A few things:
- The lab sections will begin meeting on Tuesday, October 9; the discussion will meet for the first time on Wednesday, October 10.
- I urge you to spend some time reading through the material on this course Web site. Notice the set of links at the top of this (and every) page, leading you to the Course Reference, the Schedule, and the Lab Manual. (If you've taken one of my courses before, you should pay attention to this stuff, as some of my typical, long-standing course policies have changed.)
