WHAT IS AMASE?
The Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, together with the ICS Student Council, is proud to present AMASE 2012 @ UCI: A Mobile Application Showcase Event that will highlight mobile applications developed by our students.

Event highlights include:

  • An opening session featuring prominent industry speakers who will present emerging trends in mobile apps for smartphones, robotics and automobiles.
  • Showcase of mobile apps developed by Bren School students through multiple courses and events, including:
    • CS 190, a new course titled “Mobile Embedded SW with Android,” wherein students develop a variety of apps for smartphones on the Android platform.
    • CS122B, a project course in databases and web applications, where one project focuses on developing an Android application to answer movie-related questions.
    • Extensions of past AppJam projects. Organized by the ICS Student Council, AppJam is a tournament in which students are challenged to create a fully functional mobile application in a week’s time.
    • Apps conceived and developed by students in the spring quarter in response to an open call for showcasing mobile apps at AMASE 2012.
  • An awards ceremony, where a panel of judges will select and award prizes to the most promising apps.
  • A closing reception that gives all attendees an opportunity to network with sponsors, students, faculty and industry representatives.
