WICS Named Most Outstanding Student Organization

Women in Information and Computer Sciences (WICS) took home two awards at the 38th annual Anteater Awards celebration, including the coveted Most Outstanding Student Organization. Anteater Awards honor UCI’s student organizations and their achievements and accomplishments.

For the second year in a row, WICS was recognized at the Most Outstanding Career/Professional Organization, and this year, it beat out more than 15 other organizations to take the top award.

WICS members celebrate winning two Anteater Awards.

“WICS is proud to accept these awards for all of our achievements this year,” says co-presidents Ericca Go and Katie Yeh. “We’ve provided our members with resources and the means to grow professionally through our weekly events and programs, which are a mix of career-oriented info sessions and workshops, as well as fun and laid-back socials.” This year, WICS also maintained its mentorship program; sent 30 students to the Grace Hopper Conference, the largest gathering of women in technology; and hosted its own conference, the Celebration of Women In Computing SoCal (CWIC-SoCal), which attracted 190 participants from all over Southern California.

“We were surprised and elated to receive these awards,” says Go and Yeh, who “would love to thank our faculty and staff advisors, Debra Richardson, Sharnnia Artis, and Neha Rawal; our graduate advisor, Kat Lo; and all of our lovely WICS members!”
