Nardi's research interests include theory in human-computer interaction and computer-supported collaborative work; computer-mediated communication technologies; and studies of social life on the Internet. She specializes in the use of ethnographic methods to study technology. Her theoretical orientation is activity theory. She is author of numerous scientific articles and books. With Tom Boellstorff, Celia Pearce and T.L. Taylor, she is writing a book, Ethnography and Virtual Worlds: A Handbook of Method (Princeton University Press).
