Dear Newly Admitted Anteater,

Congratulations on your admission to UC Irvine! On behalf of the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, we welcome you to UCI.  You are about to embark on one of the most exciting adventures of your life, and we are honored that you have chosen to pursue your undergraduate studies with us.

To begin your UCI experience on the right foot, there are a number of very important things that you must be aware of before Fall quarter begins:

  • The Computer Science & Engineering major is a joint major offered through the School of ICS and the School of Engineering.
  • Students who are admitted to Computer Science and Engineering are randomly assigned to one of the schools.  1/2 of the students will be appointed to ICS; 1/2 will be appointed to Engineering.  The only difference that exists between the two groups of students is where they will go for academic advising during the school year.
  • Summer orientation on Monday, June 26th is mandatory for every student.  All CSE majors, regardless of which school you belong to, will attend a unified orientation that is jointly hosted by the School of ICS and the School of Engineering.

Aditionally, there are a number of very important tasks that you must complete before Fall quarter begins.  Click here to get started.

If you have any questions AFTER reviewing the information, please do not hesitate to contact an academic counselor from your designated school. Please remember to include your full name and UCI student ID number on all correspondences.

Again, congratulations on your admission to UCI. We look very forward to meeting you at summer orientation.
