The Max Langsam Family

Max Langsam (c1867 - 23 May 1919), son of Isaac Langsam (or Peyser/Seyser) and Baila, arrived in NY around 1884. Max was married to Mary Bloch (1868 - 1915) from Russia-Poland (daughter of Haska Bloch & Leah Chananozy) on 26 November, 1887 in Manhattan, NY. They had many children but only four survived to adulthood. Max's last known address was 1603 Neptune Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. His final resting place is in Montefiore Cemetery in Long Island, NY.

Bernard (c1890 - 17 Jun 1896) was only six years old when he passed away. The family is recorded as having been living at 194 Rivington in Manhattan, NY. His death record (cert# 20029) lists the cemetery as Washington IS.
Sadie (c1891 - 16 Jan 1945) married Harry Silverstein on Feb 7, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY (cert# 2245) and started off married life at 510 Howard Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
- Murray was born 18 Feb 1916 in Brooklyn, NY. He passed, as per SSDI on 26 Jul 2002 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada, USA of natural causes (as per his U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File). It is recorded that he had changed his name to Murray Stewart and that his last residence was in zipcode 91607 in Valley Village, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Fanny (1893 - 14 Aug 1894) passed away at the age of 8 months in Manhattan, NY (cert# 27622).
Charles (c1894 - 9 Apr 1910) was an errand boy. He passed at 146 Chester Street, Brooklyn, NY, just two weeks before Passover, in Brooklyn, NY and is buried in Montifiore Cemetery (Long Island, NY) under the surname Langsan.
Jacob (c1896 - ) has no known detail.
Bertha/Bertie (22 Mar 1898 - 1973) married Sidney Raiken around 1915. For a time they were in New Jersey where their oldest son was born. The 1920-1940 census records show them living consistenly in Brooklyn, NY. She is layed to rest at Mount Hebron Jewish Cemetery in Flushing, Queens (NY).

- Alice (19 Jul 1922 - 28 Dec 1964) married Leland Glen Witcher (1914–1994). They lived in Texas and Leland worked for Continental Oil. Alice died due to a cerebral hemorrhage while thet were in Doha, Ad Dawhah, Qatar. They had no known children.
- Phyliss (1929 - 1986) married Paul Russell David Hudder (1929–1965) and had two know children.

Rose/Ratchel (22 Apr 1900 - ) married Rex (Reginald S) Hartley on 17 Jan 1923 in Manhattan, NY (cert# 9810). He was a vaudville actor and was from Morecambe, England. As per ship manifests, in 1927 they were living at 242 W 73rd Street in Manhattan. In 1928 they were at 351 W 42nd Street in Manhattan. They must have traveled extensivley. There is an immigration card for her and her husband (he is listed under the name Reginald Story Hartley Ou Rex Story) from England to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1941. His visa may have been for propoganda.
Louis/Hiller/Heller (15 Dec 1901 - ) has no known detail.
