Oops, copy-and-paste error. Thanks for catching that. It was supposed to be a link to the fair open access principle site, but I accidentally used the url for my local preview of the post I already linked to as the main link. Fixed now.

I find it strange that establishing a legal entity can be such an obstacle in some countries. Back in Finland, even most student clubs are legal entities. You can run them without lawyers, professional accountants, and professional auditors. If the organization is non-profit, it doesn't have to pay taxes.

With the arxiv already available this all seem somewhat redundant. To protect themselves, open access journals and authors should insist that all their papers have to be posted to the arxiv (I would suggest in final form for open source journals) before publication in the journal...

I think really the issue with this criterion is, who owns and controls what happens with the journal name. That issue would exist regardless of whether the actual papers are on arXiv.

I clarified a few points at gitlab (Mark's link). In particular Principle 1 does not imply a registered organization.

Adding a sixth principle is somewhat tricky now, but we should certainly expand the expected good practices (or use some well crafted, existing ones). And accessibility is indeed important.
