I am a 4th year statistics PhD student at the University of California, Irvine. I am interested in Bayesian methods for statistical inference, graphical models for network inference, and explainable machine learning modeling. I am a member of the UCI/UCSC joint Space Time Modeling Group. My primary research is the application of Bayesian state-space models for time-varying inter-brain-region connectivity using fMRI data.

I’m committed to cultivating a diverse and respectful academic community. I serve as a member of the Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience (DECADE) student body as both a department representative and as a Graduate Mentor to underrepresented undergraduates.

Dimension reduction of gene expression data

DNA methylation of specific dinucleotides has been shown to be strongly linked with tissue age. The goal of this research is to explore different analysis techniques for microarray data in order to create a more effective predictor of age from DNA methylation level …

Analysis of NBA shooting data to uncover the impact of the NBA bubble on scoring

I analyze the effect of the unique NBA quarantine environment, termed the NBA Bubble, on players' jump shooting performance. Using a hierarchical logistic regression framework, I estimate that the odds of a player making a shot are 5% higher in the bubble than outside, comparing shots of similar distance and difficulty. Given the average number of shots an NBA player takes during a game, this increase in shooting performance is neglible in terms of impact on games.
