Welcome! I'm a Ph.D. student in Prof. Smyth's DataLab group, and my general area is artificial intelligence and machine learning. Specifically, my research focuses on large-scale machine learning, Bayesian models (such as topic models and social network models), and efficient statistical inference algorithms (including fast MCMC/variational methods, composite likelihoods, contrastive divergence, and particle filtering). This work has been supported by an NSF Graduate Fellowship. In Spring 2010, I taught CS 175, a project course in artificial intelligence.
