Kurose 5th/6th ed. chapter 2 problem P9: For the average access delay, the problem says to use delta / (1 - delta times beta). They are using a M/M/1 queuing model, where delta = packet transmission delay (usually denoted by 1 / mu), and beta = arrival rate (usually called lambda). The forumla thus corresponds to the average queueing plus tranmission delay for this link.
