Textbook: Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach Featuring the Internet, James Kurose & Keith Ross, Pearson. There are 7th edition (2017) and 8th edition (2021) versions of the book. You may purchase or rent either one.

Electronic copy: The 8th edition is available for 180 days at the VitalSource website for the 8th edition of the book. The 7th edition is available for either 180 days or lifetime at the UCI bookstore website or at the VitalSource website for the 7th edition of the book. If you are not in the United States, the Global 7th edition is available at the VitalSource website for the Global 7th edition of the book. This will allow you to read the book while online. If you want to read it offline, or if you find online access is too slow, then download a VitalSource Bookshelf app that supports offline access. I recommend that you print the pages with assigned problems.

Paper copy: The 8th edition is available to rent in paperback at the Pearson website for the 8th edition of the book. The 7th edition is available to buy at the Pearson website for the 7th edition of the book. The 7th edition is also available to rent or buy at the UCI bookstore. If you are not in the United States, you may be able to purchase the Global 7th edition. Don't buy the 1st through 6th editions, as they don't have all of the material and problems.
