I am an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association, lead PI of an
NIH–NIGMS T32 training program in biostatistics, and former Director of
UCI’s Data Science Initiative and Center for Statistical Consulting. I
also serve as Associate Editor for several leading statistics journals.
Development & outreach
- Director of the UCI Data Science Initiative, which offered workshops and organized symposia spanning computing, statistics, and data science.
- Founder of the STEER program, providing PhD students with advanced training at the interface of biostatistics and biomedical sciences.
- Established the SoCal Data Science program, which has mentored more than 90 undergraduate fellows from UCI, CSUF, and Cypress College.
- Co-director of the Irvine Summer Institute in Biostatistics and Undergraduate Data Science (ISI-BUDS).
- Contributed to Project PIPE-LINE, building data science pathways across UCI, CSUF, and community colleges.
- Launched an annual data science summer school for high school students, sponsored by COSMOS.

Statistical consulting
Since 2009, I have worked as a statistical consultant for industry, primarily with clinical, diagnostics, and biotech companies. The work spans experimental design and power calculations for clinical trials, biomarker discovery, high-throughput data analysis, regression and classification modeling, nonparametric methods, longitudinal and survival analysis, and machine learning and deep learning.
